Hydroseeding, also known as hydraulic mulch seeding or hydro-mulching, is a planting process that involves spraying a mix of seed, mulch, fertilisers, and binders onto a substrate. The substrate can vary from topsoil down to rough rocky faces.

Hydroseeding is an innovative and economic method of establishing vegetation in areas which cannot be readily serviced by conventional methods, such as steep slopes or inaccessible areas of topsoil, raw subsoil or derelict land areas. Hydroseeding is also a means of soil stabilisation and erosion control on the most awkward sites, it offers a highly effective and cost-efficient solution. The hydroseed mix is transported in a tank, either truck- or trailer-mounted, and sprayed over prepared ground. The individual seed mixture can be selected to suit the site. The hydroseed can be tailored to establish a variety of vegetation such as grasses, wildflowers trees, and shrubs in difficult site conditions.

Areas of use: Motorway embankments, golf courses and sports grounds, landfill sites, wasteland, rock faces, soil retention, and sand dune conservation.
